Terms of Use

Last updated 22 June 2026

By using CalcMates ("the Site") you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

What we provide

The Site provides free online calculators and educational content for agriculture, mining, construction, livestock and water & environment. Every formula is verified and published with a worked example so you can check the maths yourself.

Your responsibility

Our calculators produce results based on the inputs you provide. Accurate inputs give accurate results. You are responsible for:

  • Providing correct and appropriate input values.
  • Understanding whether a particular calculator applies to your situation.
  • Making your own professional judgements about how to use the results — particularly where safety, structural integrity, environmental compliance, or financial decisions are involved.
  • Consulting a qualified professional where your circumstances require it.

No professional advice

The Site provides calculation tools and general educational content. It does not provide engineering, agronomic, financial, legal, or other professional advice. The content does not replace the judgement of a qualified professional who knows the specifics of your project, site, or situation.

No warranty

The Site and all calculators, formulas, results, and content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. While we strive for accuracy, we do not warrant that any calculator, formula, or result is free from error.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CalcMates, its owners, contributors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, cost, or expense — whether direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential — arising from or in any way connected with:

  • Your use of, or inability to use, any calculator, result, or content on this Site.
  • Any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in any formula, result, or content.
  • Any decisions made or actions taken based on information obtained from this Site.
  • Any interruption, suspension, or termination of the Site.

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise), even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CalcMates, its owners, and contributors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Site or violation of these terms.

Accuracy and updates

We make reasonable efforts to verify formulas and content at the date of publication, but we do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or currentness. Standards, regulations, material properties, and best practices change over time. It is your responsibility to verify that any result is appropriate and current for your specific use case.

Intellectual property

The Site's design, code, and original content are owned by CalcMates. The mathematical formulas themselves are public knowledge; we claim no ownership of them. You may share links to any page freely.

Third-party advertising

The Site displays advertisements from third-party networks. We do not control or endorse the products or services advertised. Third-party advertisers may use cookies; see our Privacy Policy for details.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to interfere with the Site's operation, submit malicious input, scrape content at scale, or use the Site for any unlawful purpose.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The "Last updated" date at the top tells you when these terms were last revised.
